When is the best time to fish Lake El Salto?
It depends on what you are looking for, whether it's big fish or
numbers. The fall months are excellent for numbers. December through
June are great for big fish.
When is the absolute best time to experience Lake El Salto's best topwater
fishing?
October 1st through April 30th produce the best sheer numbers of
fish on topwater.
When does the pre-spawn fall on the lake?
It usually occurs somewhere on the lake between December and January.
When do the bass spawn?
Usually February through March

big post-spawn females in El Salto.
April. May, and June
What is the best month to catch trophy bass on the lake?
Every month is a possibility. In the fall you can catch them on
crankbaits and topwater. In the late spring you catch them on plastic.
What's the average size fish?
El Salto bass get bigger every year. You can expect 30 to 80 fish
per boat per day with the average fish being well over 4 pounds, and
the possibility of catching fish over 8 pounds.
Anglers who fish Mexico's Lake El Salto soon figure out that any bass
that bites is apt to be a heavyweight. Over the past couple of years,
more than half the fisherman who have visited Anglers Inn, have
landed at least one double-digit-weight largemouth during their
three-day stay. An amazing 90% of our clients have caught one, or
more 6 pound fish.
A big reason for our astonishing success is fast growing pure Florida
strain bass. El Salto is one of the few Mexican lakes that harbor
these pure Florida largemouth bass.
What is the lake record?
The lake record is 18 pounds 5 ounces. Most anglers who know the
lake well are confident that its fertile water quite possibly
holds some world-record largemouth. The best five fish from one angler's
single day catch weighed a combined total of 53 pounds, 5 ounces.

October 1st - December 25th: Daytime ranges 75 to 85 - Evenings
62 to 72

What do I need to bring?
You can refer to our "Pre-trip check list" below. It
provides you with a detailed list of the items needed to make your
fishing trip more pleasurable.
Do you supply fishing gear?
We suggest you bring your own rods and reels. But if you prefer
not to do so, a complementary loaner package will be provided
at the lodge. Anglers Inn has a full service tackle shop stocked with
everything you need during your fishing trip.
What kind of equipment will we be using?
You will be fishing out of Tracker boats equipped with 48 h.p. Yamaha
outboard engines, swivel seats, plenty fast with lots of room.
All the boats have 46 pound thrust trolling motors.
At
Anglers Inn you will be treated like a king while fishing for
Florida-strain bass. We have had more than 28 years experience taking
care of our visitors. Be assured our accommodations, equipment and staff
are the highest quality. Upon your arrival at your gateway city, you will
be met by a bilingual Anglers Inn representative at the airport and transported
to the lodge. Beer, bottled water and soft drinks will be on board for
the ride.
Immigration: You will need a passport or a certified copy of
your birth certificate and a valid photo ID in order to obtain
your tourist visa from the Mexican officials or your airline before entering
Mexico. If traveling with a minor under 18 years of age, you must have
a notarized permission letter signed by the other parent.
Climate: From November through March the mornings are
cool, requiring a light jacket or sweatshirt. By midday, the temperature
rises to the high 70's or low 80's. After March the midday temperature
will rise to the high 80's through the mid-90s. It is still cool
enough on the lake in the mornings to require a light jacket.
We have air-conditioned rooms and dining rooms for your comfort.
Insect Repellent & Sunscreen: Keep it on at all time when outdoors.
Now and then we have a "No-See-Um" problem! Any kind of repellent
works. Also be sure to bring the sun screen of your choice. Water & Ice.
Purified bottled water, bottled exclusively for Anglers Inn, is provided
in boats and at lodge facilities.
Boats & Equipment: All of our guests
will be fishing out of Tracker boats equipped, 48 h.p. Yamaha,
trolling motors, swivel seats and Coast Guard approved life jackets.
Anglers Inn fisherman's checklist:

- Rods and Case -
we recommend 6-1/2' to 7' rod in the following actions. Medium,
Medium-Heavy, and Heavy. If
you do not have a commercially built rod case, you can visit
your local hardware store and purchase PVC pipe, and end
caps.
- Reels (3) - load them with 20-25 pound test
lines. You can bring 17-pound test line for your crankbait
setup to get the lure down a little deeper. If you are looking
for Spider Wire, we would recommend 20 to 40-pound test.
- Tackle
box - load is up with Top water, Spinnerbiats,
Buzz baits, Jerkbaits, Crankbaits, Swimbaits, and an assortment of
plastics. Don't
forget worm hooks & weights.
